Newish restaurants to try in Brighton | Brighton

Brighton and Hove has a thriving restaurants scene. Whether you’re looking for restaurants that cater to Vegans, somewhere with an atmosphere, or just quality delicious foods, there is a place for you.

While we lost a few beloved places in the Pandemic, the Brighton food scene is coming back with vengeance. These new place that I’m recommending you have all caused a bit of a splash since opening. I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking.

Burnt Orange

Restaurants to try in Brighton - Burnt Orange

From the incredible Black Rock team that brought us the renowned Coal Shed and its sister restaurant the Salt rooms, we have Burnt Orange. Their menu is built around social food, simple, flavoursome and designed for grazing with friends. Starting with the Drinks (of course!), there is an extensive menu of Wines, Champagnes, and various high quality spirits.

The food not only looks magnificent, but I have yet to hear a single negative comment about a single mouthful. There have also been no teething issues with service. The only down side that I can report, is that it can be a bit tricky to get a reservations sometimes.

Socialite

Socialite can be found in The Lanes. As the name suggests it great for a night out. Serving delicious cocktails, both classics, or from their specialist cocktail menu – their skilled team can put on a fun show. Food wise, they cover Lunch & Dinner, a much coveted weekend brunch menu and have a separate nibbles menu for the lovely roof terrace.
The main menu is not overwhelming – something that I personally love. Despite that, there are plenty of options to choose from to suit everyone. Being a bit more adventurous I look forward to trying their Raw Food Bar options, but you can grab a burger or truffle chips too.

Kusaki

Restaurants to try in Brighton - Kusaki

Don’t worry my Vegan friends, I haven’t forgotten about you. Kusaki opened it’s doors in August 2021, and is the only Vegan Sushi place in Brighton. You can find this stunning restaurant on Circus Parade, and head inside for some Japanese inspired cocktails, Sake or Wine, if you aren’t looking to eat.

The menu itself comprises of Curries, Sushi, Larger Plates (like Bao Buns) and Small Plates – Kusaki recommends ordering several small plates to share with friends. The Dessert menu sounds delicious, my mouth literally watered at the thought of the Lychee Tarte Tatin, served warm with Coconut Vegan Gelato.

Looking for more Vegan restaurants to try? I recommend using Squaremeal.

Mediterra

Restaurants to try in Brighton - Mediterra

The final restaurant on my list, is off the beaten path a bit. Mediterra, is located on the Hove/Portslade border, literally on Boundary Road. Mediterra might not be as high end as others I have mentioned here, the food is delicious and the staff are so attentive.
With new flats being built and property costs rising in the area, Mediterra is an example of what the tired high street will grow to be. There’s been no shortage of a buzz in the area, with rave reviews of this authentic Turkish restaurant. The interior has added some much needed va va voom to the area – I personally recommend the Sarma Adana Beyti.
