From moisturiser to botox, we are all trying our hardest to have flawless skin, but we are usually coming up short. You probably have a current skin care routine, but if you are unhappy with your results, then you may want to mix things up. Here are the top tips for skin care from experts to keep your skin looking youthful and radiant.
The Basics
We all know it is important to take care of the basics of skin care. You should drink enough water each day and make sure you are getting enough sleep. You can calculate the amount of water you need to drink each day by cutting your body weight in half. That number is the number of ounces of water you should drink each day. On top of drinking water and getting sleep, you also need to take special care to wash your face every day, even if you don’t wear any makeup.
Cleanser
You need to find the right cleanser for your skin type. If you have oily skin or are prone to acne breakouts, then you should find a cleanser that has salicylic gel or benzoyl peroxide. A moisturizer with glycolic or milky cleanser is great for drier skin types and a brightening wash with alpha hydroxy acid cleanser will help with any brown spots. Know your skin type, and plan accordingly.
Moisturize
You should moisturize your face in the morning and at night to keep it fully hydrated. The best time to do it would be when you get out of the shower in the morning and right before you go to bed. You shouldn’t use moisturizers with heavy fragrances and it should be gentle enough for frequent use without causing irritation. You may even want to get a lighter cream for the morning and a heavier one to put on at night depending on your skin’s needs.
Exfoliate
Our skin goes through quite the continuous transformation. We are constantly losing old skin cells and producing new ones. Sometimes these old skin cells can linger on the face. You can help this process by exfoliating a couple times a week to get rid of the old skin cells and promote healthy new skin growth. It will also help your skin to feel soft and look luminous. You should find an exfoliating method that is pH neutral so it won’t dry your skin out.
Vitamins for flawless skin
In order to have healthy skin, you need a lot of vitamins. You should, of course, eat a healthy diet, but there is more to it than that. You can get topical serums or creams that will add more vitamins to your face like vitamin C that can help repair the skin if it has sustained damage from the sun. The best time to apply these serums is right after you cleanse. Your skin will be free of any contaminants, so it will be able to absorb the maximum amount of vitamins. You can also layer them underneath sunscreen as another layer of protection.
